Get your bearings on the job market
Often, it’s not about knowing where to look, but what type of work you are looking for. It is much easier to find a job that suits you when you have a good idea of what you actually want to do. A number of organisations can help you get your bearings on the job market.
- ACTIRIS (FR/NL), the employment agency for the Brussels-Capital Region, helps you to identify what you want to do (FR, NL) and find the right job.
- Brussels is home to nine Missions Locales (FR) and three Werkwinkels (NL), job centres that help you in your search for work.
- Young people can contact one of the PMS centres (FR) and the CLB (NL) for advice and assistance with respect to educational and career choices.
- The SIEP is an information service specialised in study and career options for young people and adults (FR).
- You can also get career guidance (NL) there. Your career counsellor will help you look for the ideal job (NL) and draw up a step plan.

ACTIRIS (FR/NL) is the place to go in the Brussels-Capital Region to register as a jobseeker. The ACTIRIS consultants will help you find the job that suits you best. ACTIRIS sends you regular vacancies that match your profile. You can also search their website.

Public sector jobs
If you are looking for a public sector job, browse the vacancies on the websites of the public authorities’ recruitment agencies.
- Selor is the selection agency for jobs in federal, regional and community administrations (NL/FR) and institutions.
- A list of vacancies is published on the website of the French Community of Belgium (FR).
- To look for work at the Flemish Government in Brussels (NL), go to Jobpunt Vlaanderen.
- If you aspire to a job at one of the European Union institutions, contact the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO).
Online vacancies
Arbajob is a search engine that mines job vacancies from a variety of online databases (FR/NL). You can search for vacancies or post your CV online.
Job fairs
If you would prefer to meet potential employers in person you may want to register for one or more of the job fairs organised by various organisations.
- Brussels Job Days (FR/NL) – employment fairs for various sectors, organised by Brussels Enterprises Commerce and Industry (BECI)
- The studies and careers information service SIEP (FR) organises several information fairs (FR) every year.
- Citizenjobs (FR/NL) is a non-profit job fair organised every other year by Ideji with the support of the Brussels-Capital Region.
