Provision of public services to citizens
- The SIAMU responds to fires and coordinates emergency medical assistance in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- Bruxelles-Propreté is responsible for environmental maintenance (keeping the public space clean and tidy), as well as waste collection and management in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The STIB is tasked with providing public transport services in the 19 communes of the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The SLRB ensures that housing is affordable for persons on low incomes.

- VISITBRUSSELS is tasked with promoting the Brussels-Capital Region among tourists and event organisers.

- Actiris is the Brussels office tasked with implementing the Brussels-Capital Region’s employment policy.
- The Brussels Enterprise Agency (BEA) helps businesspeople put their plans into practice in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Fonds bruxellois de Garantie gives guarantees to credit institutions so that SMEs can access credit more easily.
- The Brussels Regional Investment Company (BRIC) provides financial support to help private businesses set up, restructure and expand in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Conseil économique et social de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale (CESRBC, economic and social council of the Brussels-Capital Region) is the socioeconomic consultative body of the Brussels-Capital Region.
Research, innovation and ICT
- INNOVIRIS is the Brussels-Capital Region’s scientific research and innovation institute.
- Research in Brussels encourages and promotes scientific research and technological innovation in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Centre d'Informatique pour la Région Bruxelles-Capitale (CIRB, Informatics Centre of the Brussels-Capital Region) is responsible for developing new information technologies and computerising the services of the Brussels-Capital Region.
- Evoliris is the professional ICT reference centre of the Brussels-Capital Region. It coordinates and encourages training in ICT.
Energy and environment
- Bruxelles Environnement (IBGE) is responsible for the environment and energy at the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Brussels Energy Agency (BEA) is tasked with promoting rational energy use and renewable energy sources.
- The Fonds pour le financement de la politique de l'eau funds water policy and water purification in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Urban development
- The Brussels Regional Development Agency (BRDA) helps businesses find development sites and build housing for private citizens as part of urban renewal projects.
- Atrium is the regional agency coordinating urban investments and the development of shopping districts at the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Agence de développement territorial (ADT, Territorial development agency) is responsible for improving territorial knowledge and promoting urban development in the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Port of Brussels is responsible for managing, operating and developing the port, the outer port and the port facilities of the Brussels-Capital Region.
Organisation of the Region and its institutions
- The Ecole régionale d'administration publique (ERAP, regional public administration college) runs training courses for employees of the local and regional public services and bodies with tasks of public benefit at the Brussels-Capital Region.
- The Fonds de refinancement des Trésoreries communales (Brussels regional fund for refinancing the communal treasuries) helps the Brussels communes experiencing financial difficulties and participates in the refinancing of the five public hospitals in Brussels.
