The Ministry of the Brussels-Capital Region
The Ministry prepares and executes regional policy in a coherent, efficient and transparent way to guarantee high-quality service to Brussels citizens and businesses in a context of sustainable development and respect for public service values.
The general tasks of the Ministry of the Brussels-Capital Region are as follows:
- Promoting economic development and job creation
- Developing the public space and managing mobility and built heritage facilities
- Guiding the development of the territory by means of urban planning, good quality housing, urban renewal and protection of architectural heritage
- Managing public funds and collecting regional taxes
- Organising, advising, monitoring and financing the local authorities
- Providing effective representation of the Ministry in national, European and international bodies and integrating the role of Brussels as the capital of Europe
- Coordinating the actions of the administrations and assisting them on the basis of an appropriate human resources policy in an infrastructure of good quality
The administrations of the Ministry of the Brussels-Capital Region
The Ministry is organised into six separate administrations:
- Secrétariat général
- Administration des Pouvoirs Locaux
- Administration des Finances et du Budget
- Bruxelles Mobilité
- Administration de l’Aménagement du Territoire et du Logement
- Administration de l’Economie et de l’Emploi
The Secrétariat général (general secretariat) has a supervisory role for the five administrations, which are competent in specific matters, providing them with organisational and managerial support.
